IC 5146 is more famously known as the "Cocoon" nebula. This wide field image (by Adam Block/NOAO/AURA/NSF) well shows its position in the Milky Way at the end of the dark lane B 168 . According to "Star Clusters", by Brent Archinal and Steven Hynes , the open cluster Collinder 470 is 'involved' with IC 5146, but is not equal to IC 5146, and is cataloged as a separate object.
